Coming to Le Prieuré de la Basilique

From France

From Valenciennes, take the A2 highway in direction of Mons. Pull off at exit 25 and go on on D50 till roundabout. Take first exit (on D50A). At next roundabout, take first exit and follow D935 till Condé-sur-l'Escaut. In Condé, follow the "Route de Bonsecours" till you see the Basilique.

From Belgium

Follow the E42 highway and pull off at exit 28 (Basècles). Go on on N506 and N505 in direction of Péruwelz. Turn on the left in "Rue de Blaton", and directly again on the left in "Rue François Wachel", then in "Rue Royale". At the end of this steet, you will see the Basilique.

Notre-Dame de Bon-Secours Basilica

The Basilica Notre-Dame de Bon-Secours Listed as a historic monument, the Bon-Secours Basilica is the highest point of the Natural Park of the Scheldt plains.

As a renowned pilgrimage site since the XVI century, Bon-Secours is a town visited for venerating the Virgin Notre-Dame de Bon-Secours.

The octagonal building in the Gothic Revival with a Byzantine hint shelters the statue of the Virgin sculpted in the original oak wood.

The Domanial Forest

The Forêt Domaniale of Bon-Secours The Belgian and French parts of this beautiful forest together extend 1,200 ha. The forest borders the Prieuré and will make you feel like going for a walk.

Many paths are accessible for walkers, sportmen and horses. Throughout the circuit "Renaissance de la hêtraie" are six observer points where you can follow the evolution and steps of the regeneration of this forest.

The Nature Reserve of the Scheldt plains

The Nature Reserve of the Scheldt plains Explore the "Escale Forestière", a surprising didactic and playful course on the wildlife and nature of the forest. This ends with a virtual trip in hot air balloon to discover the treasures of the Natural Park.

Climb on the "Promenoir des Cimes", a bridge which winds over 60 meters between trunks and tree branches to drive you and make you discover the forest seen from the top. At 16 meters height, walk among oaks, ashes and beeches, look beyond the trees. France appears without any borders.

The Castle of the Hermitage

The Castle of the Hermitage Called the 200-window castle (exactly 236), it was built between 1786 and 1789 by the Marshal Prince Emmanuel De Croÿ, one of Louis XV's close relatives, who was interested in coal business, particularly in Anzin.

Through marked paths in a magnificent forest (1200 ha), you can go from the Bon-Secours wood (Belgium) to the Hermitage wood (France) and get close to the castle of the same name. Its dimensions and original design are reminiscent of Rhenish palaces and Venetian villas.
